The Gift Of Choice
“Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.
(Luke 23:42)
The two crosses on either side of Jesus symbolize one of God’s greatest gifts – the gift of choice.
Two thieves, both convicted by the same system, condemned to the same death, surrounded by the same crowd, equally close to the same Jesus, both began with the same sarcasm.
But one thief chose Jesus. The other did not.
Abel and Cain, both sons of Adam. Abel chooses God. Cain chooses murder. God lets him.
Abraham and Lot, both pilgrims in Canaan. Abraham chooses God. Lot chooses Sodom. God lets him.
David and Saul, both kings of Israel. David choose God. Saul chooses power. God lets him.
Peter and Judas, both deny their Lord. Peter seeks mercy. Judas seeks death. God lets him.
God’s gift – choice. Choose wisely.
