The Valley Of Baca
“Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion.”
(Psalm 84:4-7)
The Valley of Baca (the valley of tears) – a place that symbolizes hopelessness and despair. We all go through our personal valleys of Baca, those difficult, painful places in life, where everything seems hopeless and we feel helpless.
The Baca tree is a balsam tree that produces resin, which when harvested, by making small cuts in the branches, bleeds a liquid sap which hardens into tear-shaped drops.
But note the important word in this scripture, “through.” “They pass through the valley. He always brings us through.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,
For you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
(Psalm 23:4)
Through the water, through the rivers, through the fire.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
(Isaiah 43: 2)
He not only brings us through the valley, He is in the valley with us. And He will bring us safely out the other side. Just hold on and keep walking. You will NOT remain there, and you will get a blessing from the experience.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”
(Psalm 30:5).
