The Prodigal God - Timothy Keller

The Prodigal God - Timothy Keller

Newsweek called Timothy Keller “a C.S. Lewis for the 21st century,” after the release of his first book, The Reason for God.” In this book he visits the famous parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32)

Most often when teachings are given on this parable, the emphasis is on the younger son, representing God’s grace to the sinner. But the older son is just as much a prodigal as the younger. While the younger runs away from his father and wastes his inheritance, the older stays and serves his father, but not out of love or gratitude, but for what he thinks he will get from his dad. Jesus wasn’t preaching so much to the sinners standing around him, but to the self-righteous Pharisees who were part of the audience.
