The Miracle in a Drop

The Miracle in a Drop

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands
 (Psalm 19:1 NIV)

According to NASA there are approximately 50 billion galaxies in the observable universe. It is estimated that each galaxy contains around 100 billion stars, which means the observable universe contains 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (5 followed by 21 zeros) stars!

If those facts amaze you, this one will blow you away! A cube of water, one inch on each side, contains about 600,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (6 followed by 23 zeros, or six-hundred sextillion) molecules! There are 120 times more water molecules in a cubic inch of water than there are stars in the observable universe!

And we try to put God in a box or try to understand how He operates? Or worse, treat Him like an ATM machine that if we punch in the right code, He has to perform for us. Our response to facts like this should be to fall down on our knees, and confess, like Job, “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you” (Job 42:5 NIV).

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV).
