Don’t Give Yourself a Headache!
Turn your burdens over to the Lord, and He will take care of you.
He will never let the righteous person stumble
(Psalm 55:22 NLT)
I was sitting outside on my patio on a clear, crisp fall morning, enjoying the peace and quiet, when the silence was broken by the hammering of a woodpecker, apparently intent on giving itself a headache by boring a hole into a dead tree.
Yes, I know the woodpecker has been artfully designed to allow it to bang its head on hard wood without untoward side effects. However, it did remind me of myself. Because that is what I do on a regular basis! I bang my head on walls (metaphorically speaking), trying to come up with a solution to a problem when there is a very simple remedy.
All I need to do is take it to Jesus. He is far better equipped than I am to handle my problems. He has the advantage of knowing the full picture, unlike me who can only see the immediate circumstances.
And not only will He handle it, He will handle it perfectly. Maybe not in the way I expect, maybe not in the timeline I want, but He will come through for me. And it will be in the perfect time and in the perfect way even though I may not realize it at the time.
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV)
