You May Not Be Able to Touch

You May Not Be Able to Touch

You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand
(Galatians 6:2 CEV)

The advent of Covid brought a new, unpleasant reality into our lives, the daunting challenge of living in isolation. Human beings are made to live in community, isolation is a strange and unnatural existence for us. The sense of isolation can leave one feeling ineffective and helpless.

Images of doctors and nurses in the frontline at hospitals, putting their lives at risk to save others, caregivers in nursing homes continuing to see to the needs of the elderly, stories of bravery and servanthood flowed across our newsfeeds and gave rise to the question: “What can we possibly do that would make a difference right now?”

But don’t underestimate the powerful effect you can have in your own small part of the world. D.L. Moody wrote, “He does the most for God’s great world who does the best in his own little world.”

The phone call to a lonely friend, the smile for the person you see on your daily walk, picking up groceries for the elderly neighbor who can’t go out. The most important work you can possibly do is taking care of those around you. You may not be able to physically touch someone, but you can reach out.

Through love you should serve one another (Galatians 5:9 AMP)
