He Cares About the Little Things

He Cares About the Little Things

Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins?
And not one of them is forgotten before God.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
(Luke 12:6-7 NKJV)

I have a propensity to feel bad when I go to God about something that, in the big scheme of things, I feel is small and insignificant. I am almost embarrassed to ask Him for help. After all, there are so many people out there in the world who are experiencing real tragedy and suffering.

There is no reason, however, for us to feel bad about going to Him. God understands the daily grind and the small nits can wear you to a frazzle. That the co-workers at the great job He gave you are standing on your last nerve. That the child you prayed and believed for and were so grateful to Him for giving to you is now a teenager driving you batty. (That boarding school in the remote Scottish Highlands is starting to look really good.) That the husband you adore is a one-man wrecking machine, leaving wet towels on the bathroom floor and dirty dishes in the sink. (Maybe he needs to join the teenager in the Scottish Highlands.)

When your child comes to you in tears because she has lost her favorite toy, you don’t tell her there are children in refugee camps who have no toys and she should be grateful for the ones she has. No, you wipe away her tears and comfort her and help her find her “Puppy Love” stuffed dog.

God feels the same way about us. He is our Abba Father. He wants to help us in our small day-to-day struggles. So, never hesitate about taking them to Him, and His peace, which exceeds anything we can ever understand, will guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).
